NYU Stern Executive MBA
The New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business, or the Stern School, is one of the oldest business schools in the world. Founded in 1900, it was one of the first members of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The Executive MBA program at the Stern School is generally completed in about 22 months. Classes are held every other Friday and Saturday.
Students are required to take core classes during their first year, and the second year consists of completing 10 electives. EMBA students can take electives through Stern’s Langone Part-time MBA program, the NYU School of Law, the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service, or the Real Estate Institute at NYU’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies. The core classes focus on topics like corporate finance, marketing, global economy, and financial accounting and reporting. The majority of classes are conducted through case studies, team projects, and lectures. The Stern School utilizes technologically-advanced systems like video conferencing, activity streams, and customized portals for MBA students.
Students are required to complete two Global Study Tours, in which they spend a week in international residencies. These experiences give students the chance to get a feel for how overseas businesses and financial markets are run. There are many opportunities for students outside the classroom as well. On campus, there are also more than 40 clubs and organizations for students to get involved in. There are a wide range of topics covered in the groups, including some athletic clubs. Some of the groups are based on professional goals, like the Private Equity Group or the NYU Entrepreneurs Club (NY EEX). This group holds conferences with high-profile speakers every year. The Stern School is run by a student body called the Stern Student Corporation. With over 100,000 Stern alumni, the school is also able to provide valuable connections in the business world for all EMBA students.
