Northwestern Kellogg Executive MBA
The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University has Executive MBA programs in Chicago and Miami. Founded in 1908, the Kellogg School offers programs in many diverse areas including accounting, consulting, finance, general management, and public administration. There are four available EMBA programs: twice monthly Friday through Sunday classes in Evanston beginning in September, twice monthly Friday through Saturday programs in Evanston beginning in January, monthly classes Thursday through Sunday in Miami in January, and monthly classes Thursday through Sunday beginning in September.
The EMBA program is specifically designed for students who already have many years of work experience. Kellogg also offers global electives during the second year of the program. Students can attend classes at one of the four sister locations overseas (like HKUST in Hong Kong or the Recanati School in Tel Aviv). Students can also take advantage of more than 25 research facilities on campus (like the General Motors Research Center for Strategy in Management and the Center for Executive Women).
The EMBA curriculum consists of advanced courses and electives designed specifically for EMBA students. Core courses include Analytical Approach to Uncertainty, Financial Reporting Systems, Leadership and Organizations, Marketing Management, Statistical Decision Analysis, Foundations for Strategy Formulation, Managerial Economics, Managerial Finance, and Operations Management.
There are also a wide variety of electives to choose from, like Advertising Strategy, Game Theory, International Finance, and US Healthcare. Students must also participate in two “Live-Ins” where they take intensive courses and collaborate with classmates on projects. The first is a week-long program at the beginning of the first year. The second “Live-In” also takes place on the Evanston campus, but international students from Kellogg partner schools also attend the program. They work in groups on topics like negotiations and crisis management.
Kellogg provides many career management services to EMBA students. There are academic advisors, career counselors, networking resources, resume and interview preparation, and special alumni services for all students. Outside of the classroom, there are more than 50 student clubs and organizations. Many groups focus on professional skills like consulting, investment banking, and marketing or on specific student bodies like the Asian Business Association or Black Management Association. EMBA students can also participate in the Speaker Series, Business Card Series, and the Corporate Partner Appreciation Event.
